Structural Support Columns | a recognized leader
Our columns are manufactured to conform to the National Building Code parts 4 and 9 and are assembled in accordance with CSA Can 3 – S16.1. Our welding process is certified by CWB. The design of the columns is overseen and sealed by an independent consulting engineer and the columns undergo metallurgical engineering testing.
Wesure has created a family of structural support columns that feature a broad range of load bearing capabilities to ensure there is an ideal column for your application or design. Our columns offer performance, reliability and easy installation.
Pre-engineered steel structural support columns can be used for a wide variety of construction applications from residential to light commercial. The WS series even offers a saddle head option for situations where a hinge point or lateral loading are real concerns. Optional adaptor plates are also available for specific anchoring needs or unusual beam widths and bearing lengths.
Wesure produces the only pre-engineered steel structural support column that comes with a guarantee.

Note
- Concrete to be a minimum of 3000p.s.i. (20Mpa), normal portland cement type 10 or type 50 as required, maximum 3/4" (20mm) aggregate, 3" (75MM) slump.
- All rebar to be tied at intersections. Follow position diagram.
- Footing meets or exceeds National and Alberta Building Code Section 9.
- Load to be applied in the middle of the pad. Eccentric loading will significantly reduce the capacity of the footing.

- The soil bearing load capacities have been adjusted to show the load on the columns alone. The total soil bearing capacity has been reduced by the self weight of the footing itself.

Why and When the Saddle Head...
Good engineering practice dictates that 5% of vertical load be available as lateral load. Beyond 24,000 lbs. of vertical load this lateral support becomes questionable. A flathead fastened to the beam with lag bolts just won’t handle the 5% lateral load. The saddle head will supply anti-hinging and resistance to the tear away stresses and provides anti-twisting and rotational stability to the beam.
Saddles are good practice for butt-joint beams as well. Pre-engineered and designed for LVL, PSL, glulam, dimensional lumber, timber and steel beams. For applications such as second story, steel beams and other applications. Flat top heads are available.There are many fastening systems and methods. If you are unsure of the appropriate one, ask us – we can help!

The Superior Wesure Support System Guarantee
Your builder has incorporated into your new home the innovative industry leading Wesure Support Column as part of the floor and/or ceiling systems. These columns support the beams that in turn support the joists of your floor and ceiling.
The Wesure Column is completely and properly engineered so that materials and manufacturing meet or exceed the National Building Code and are also certified by the Canadian Welding Bureau. As per the Load Specification Table, it is designed to support the loads that are transferred through the constructed systems (walls, floors etc.) to these beams.
In the unlikely event of a problem, Wesure shall be given a reasonable opportunity to inspect the situation on site, and if caused by a manufacturing or material defect in the column, the problem will be rectified promptly.
This guarantee applies only to Wesure columns used as part of a Wesure Support System. It does not apply if columns from other manufacturers are used with Wesure columns.
